Carrefour Kenya to Champion Community Sport Through Inaugural Carrefour Open Padel Tournament with Networks Padel Village

Nairobi, Kenya, 28 May 2026: Carrefour, which Majid Al Futtaim owns the exclusive rights to
operate in Kenya, will host the inaugural Carrefour Open padel tournament from 4 to 7 June 2026
at the Village Market. Anchored in Carrefour Kenya’s commitment to the communities it serves, the
tournament is designed to broaden access to the sport, support young athletes, and create
meaningful opportunities for underserved communities.
The four‑day tournament will bring together more than 250 athletes across the Top, Advanced,
Mixed, High Intermediate, Intermediate, and Open divisions, competing for a KES 700,000 cash
prize pool. Attendees will also have access to interactive fan zones and community-focused
activities designed to deepen engagement with the sport and encourage wider participation.
Carrefour will also host a youth community tournament on 3 June, bringing together 100 children
from Gacharage Junior Secondary and Primary School. The children will be introduced to padel
through guided sessions, with the top three earning a one‑year mentorship programme with
Networks Padel Village coaches.
